A celebration of life on Saturday, November 7th, with a second line, music, and the city he loved.
New Orleans is where Mitch studied music and design. It’s where he discovered himself as an artist. It’s where he learned to express and play freely, in a tradition that’s raw, never about ego, always about the moment and the people around you. That spirit shaped who he was.
A second line is a New Orleans tradition where a brass band leads a procession through the streets, and the community follows behind, dancing, waving handkerchiefs, celebrating. It grew out of the city’s jazz funerals, where mourning gives way to music and movement, turning grief into a joyful send‑off.
We want to celebrate Mitch with the music and joy he gave so generously to all of us.
This is still tentative and may shift depending on amounts and availability. We will update this as we firm up locations and times.
There are many hotels in New Orleans. These are our recommendations, based on accessibility and vibe. Please book before mid-September. The Saints play at home that Sunday, and rates go up fast.
The St Charles streetcar runs the length of where most of Saturday happens. Rideshare is easy. Do not plan on parking.
Please dress comfortably and wear shoes for walking. Second line convention leans toward color rather than black.
Early November is usually mild. Mid 70s in the day, cooler after dark. Sunset is around 5:10pm, so the daytime parts really are daytime.
